This continues to be the blog I always join in with. Reflecting on achievements, targets and dreams is not something I do in drips which is probably the most useful and it continues to be something that I do all at once. So here it goes…
1. Release at least two more books. I would love a book launch but let’s see…
As I review this goal, I smile. Not because I have been particularly successful but for the fact I love this line of my life. This year I have released three books *cue huge smile and excited wiggle*
Where is my voice? was released first in February by SRL Publishing. You can find it here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Where-My-Voice-Tracey-Lawrence/dp/0995732302/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1515261488&sr=8-1&keywords=where+is+my+voice
We even won the People’s Book Award in 2017 which was very exciting!
Practical Behaviour Management for Primary School Teachers was second to be released in September by Bloomsbury. You can find it here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Practical-Behaviour-Management-Primary-Teachers/dp/1472942353/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1515261627&sr=1-1&keywords=practical+behaviour+management+for+primary+school+teachers
Jack and Jen was the final of 2017 to be released in December and was self-published. You can find it here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jack-Jen-Phonics-Tracey-Lawrence/dp/1976543428/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1515262017&sr=1-1&keywords=jack+and+jen
I love this journey that my life is taking as it can have the potential of reaching and supporting more children. It has also enabled me to meet so many lovely people along the way. I even got my little book launch. Take a look…
2. Work on completing my NPQH…
This has to be one of the most fantastic learning experiences that I have embarked on. As well as linking up with some fabulous people on this journey I genuinely accredit is as the reason that I have now gained a Head of School post. I have submitted and passed my first task. I am submitting task 2 and 3 on Monday and have my interview in a few months so please cross your fingers and your toes. I wholeheartedly recommend the whole NPQ process. I have done NPQML and SL and loved all three stages.
3. Set up a charity. I want to provide support for the lesser known cancer charities that supported us to keep Dad at home in the final stages. I hope to donate a lump sum every year on the anniversary of Dad's death to try and bring some positivity to a difficult day.
We have spent the year raising money for lesser known cancer charity and made our first lump sum donations this year. We made just shy of 2k from our climb up Snowdon and have split this between The Laura Centre (who helped bereaved children) and the Leicester Royal Infirmary Chemo Suite. Both fantastic charities who support people in the most difficult times.
4. Climb Snowdon again…and set a time limit and use it as a launch sponsorship for our charity.
This was another fantastic experience. We did it in May and it raised the money as above. This time round it wasn’t as clear to see the views which was a real shame but we had a group of us go so it was really fun and offered a completely different experience than last year.
5. Go to Botswana to spread Dad’s ashes.
This nearly didn’t happen. We knew it would be expensive but the first quote we had was 7k each for a week. All prices hovered around here and the trip seemed out of sight until a friend recommended Intrepid. Cue a fantastic trip travelling around South Africa with the most incredible people (3 of them were teachers!! – can’t get away haha). Here are a few pictures of our travels –
So onto targets for this year…
Grief is such a huge part of my life still. It affects so many different things that I do and can be a real barrier. My target is to simply understand it. To understand why it affects me in the way that it does, how I can channel it in a positive way and change my mindset. To understand, control and ultimately reduce the anxiety that has been left as an offshoot of grief. I realise that this paragraph may not seem positive but it is J Grief is the fact. My approach this year is the target.
The very best of luck with your targets for this year. Aim high and live every year to the full.
